Starting Therapy: Why It Feels Hard (And Why It Helps)

Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. Even sending that first message can bring up doubt, fear, or hesitation.

You might wonder if your problems are “serious enough,” worry about being judged, or simply not know what to expect. These are all common thoughts, and they often stop people from getting the support they need.

In reality, therapy isn’t just for crisis. It’s a space to talk openly, make sense of what you’re feeling, and feel heard without judgement.

The first session is usually just a conversation. You don’t need to have everything prepared or know exactly what to say. You can go at your own pace.

Over time, counselling can help you understand yourself more clearly, manage difficult emotions, and feel more in control.

If something doesn’t feel right, or you’re ready for change, that’s reason enough to start.
